Already for many years the Intersolar Europe plays a leading role as the greatest international trade fair for solar technology. It is regarded as a leading fair for all topics of the solar energy. Among others, the main topics of the fair are photovoltaic conversion, solar thermal energy and solar construction. Product innovations are introduced on the Intersolar Europe as well as offers concerning topics like photovoltaic conversion and production technology. Moreover, one of the most important businesses of the fair is the active support of the development of the solar technology.
In 1991 the Intersolar Europe started under the name “Solar fair”, first as a one-day event with five exhibitors in Pforzheim in the south of Germany. With the move to Freiburg some years later the name Intersolar has been created. Because the area in Freiburg could not stand the increasing rush of visitors and exhibitors anymore, in 2008 the fair moved to the area of the Munich fair. Since this time the fair calendar of the city is not imaginable without the Intersolar Europe and takes place yearly in June. On an area of about 168,000 square meters more than 2,000 exhibitors from 47 countries meet together with about 77,000 visitors from 156 nations during three fair days.
However, the Intersolar Europe is more than only an exhibition forum. The fair is supported by a huge number of additional side-events. In the innovation stock for example, the exhibitors of the trade fair present to their audience in 15-minute talks their current trends and product innovations. In addition, there is a job and career forum. In 2012 the innovation price “Intersolar AWARD” will be given for the fifth time which meets the acceptance of the international solar industry a lot.
The Intersolar Europe is also presented internationally. Already in 2008 the Intersolar North America was founded which takes place regularly in San Francisco. Since 2010 there is the Intersolar India with its venue in Mumbai. In December, 2011 Intersolar China was founded in Peking.
