The construction fair Munich 2011 (BAU) is undisputed the worldwide leading construction trade fair. It is regarded as a leading fair for architecture, materials and systems in the fields of industrial construction and object construction, house construction as well as interior work. The fair shows material and product innovations in new and existing construction. Important topics are energy and solar technology, room concepts, floor covers as well as services and security concerning the construction. The offer of the exhibitors is clearly classified according to construction materials, product and subject areas.

Meanwhile, BAU is an institution in the fair timetable in January in the uneven years. The fair takes up the whole area of the new fair Munich on 180,000 m ² gross exhibition space. During the six dates of exhibition nearly 2,000 exhibitors from more than 40 countries meet together with more than 200,000 visitors. The audience of BAU is renowned for its high professionalism. Here the planners of the world meet together: Among the visitors are around 50,000 representatives from committees or architect’s offices from all over the world. They use BAU as an interdisciplinary business and information platform. In no other place visitors from the building industry can find such a big amount of important subsections and materials.

Nevertheless, BAU Munich is more than just a display of product innovations. The organizers offer by means of numerous supporting events possible solutions for worldwide challenges, such as answers to social questions or in the area of the climate protection. For example, the aspect of effective and resource efficient building plays an important role in all product areas.

Who wants to be successful in the long run, must search for cooperation in his area of business. For the first time, the BAU and the Fraunhofer Allianz BAU have agreed to a strategic alliance for the fair 2011. The most important German research institution in the building industry will support the Munich fair on a long term basis and present results of the research during the fair days. Another partnership is with ift Rosenheim, the leading institute for window system technology.

Internationally, BAU extends its operations to India and Turkey. This meets not only the approval of the exhibitors, but also of the marketing section: In 2010 and 2011, the GWA Profi-Award, comparable to the Oscar of the German advertising industry, has been awarded to BAU Munich.
